Trying to Adult RVA is a community for adults 21 and over in Richmond, Virginia who are looking for genuine connection, fun experiences, and new friendships.

Whether you're new to Richmond, looking to expand your circle, or just tired of spending weekends at home, this is a place where you can show up as yourself and meet people who are looking for the same thing.

What We Do

Our New Friend Socials are designed to make meeting people and building friendships feel easy, natural, and fun.

Our events are experiences intentionally designed to help you connect beyond small talk through interactive elements, shared experiences, and welcoming environments where people can genuinely get to know each other. Every detail is built around creating real connection while having fun out in Richmond.

Our New Friend Socials include our signature friend making experience including custom name tags, Friend Request Cards, collectible event pins,and Next Hang Kits that encourage friendships to continue even after the event ends.

About Sam - our Founder

Sam moved to Richmond, VA for a corporate job, knowing absolutely nobody in the city. Shortly thereafter, a worldwide pandemic hit, and what was already a lonely transition turned into isolation for everyone.

Sam wanted to do fun, local things with fun people, the kind of casual, easy hangouts that make a city feel like home. But no matter where she looked, that thing didn't seem to exist.

So she created it.

Since 2021, she has planed over 800 events and hosted more than 20,000 people. She's endlessly curious about what actually makes strangers click, always learning about human connection and helping people find their sense of belonging.

What started as one event has grown into a full community built around a simple belief: belonging doesn't just happen, it must be intentionally designed. Every New Friend Social reflects that idea and is built to make real connections blossom.
