Our community is open to anyone 21 and up! While our average participant age is 30, we welcome adults of all ages who want to have fun and make new friends.

Do people come to events alone?

Absolutely! Most attendees come solo and find it a great way to meet new people. Don’t feel pressured to know anyone beforehand; most people are there to make new connections. If you're feeling anxious, find one of our team members in the tie dye lanyards - they’re there to help you have fun and make friends!

How do I find the group at an event?

Look for Trying to Adult RVA signs or flags at check-in. Event team members will also be wearing tie-dye name tag lanyards.  You can also ask venue staff, and they will help point you in the right direction.

What is the parking situation like at events?

Parking availability varies by event. We always do our best to provide parking info in advance, so check the event description for details before heading out!

What happens if an event says SOLD OUT? Can I still attend?

Accepted Answer

Once an event is sold out, no additional tickets will be available for immediate purchase. Keep an eye on our social media and event pages for spot openings or additional availability. Remember, you must have a ticket from our website to attend.

What if I purchased a ticket and can no longer attend?

Accepted Answer

All ticket sales are final and non-refundable. Tickets also cannot be transferred or resold. If an event is canceled by Trying to Adult RVA, registered attendees will be refunded.

I'm really shy, is this event still for me?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and honestly, a lot of our regulars started out just as nervous. Our whole event is designed to take the pressure off, from conversation starters built right into your name tag to a team who are there to help you ease in. You don't have to be outgoing to have a great night, you just have to show up.

I get anxious in new social situations, any tips?

Totally normal, and you're not the only one feeling that way in the room. Come a little early if that helps you settle in, find a team member if you want a friendly face to start with, and remember that most people around you are also hoping to make a new friend. You don't have to do it all at once.

What if I show up and don't click with anyone right away?

That happens sometimes, and it's okay. Our events are built around lots of small, low-pressure moments to connect, not just one big conversation, so there are multiple chances throughout the night to find your people. And your Next Hang Kit means the connection doesn't have to happen all in one evening.

Trying to Adult RVA was established in October 2021 by Sam to create a fun, community-driven way for people to meet and enjoy new experiences together. Instead of just putting your logo on a banner, we build your brand into an actual moment of the event, something attendees experience and remember, not just see. We'll work with you to figure out what fits your goals and budget.

Yes! A lot of our partners show up through our Next Hang Kits, giving attendees a reason to keep the fun going after the event with a coffee, class, activity, or other local offer.
